Voting Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  1. I moved. Can I still vote?
Yes. If you moved to the new address BEFORE Oct 9, (and you are a registered voter), go to the County Clerk's office and complete emergency registration form stating that your address has changed. You can do this from Oct 9 until Election Day, Nov 6. You would then vote at your new Precinct Polling Place. If you moved to the new address AFTER Oct 9, you must vote at the polling place for your old address. You should also fill out a new registration form to tell the Clerk about your new address. Click here for more information.
  2. I got a letter from the Clerk saying that my registration was not complete. What do I do?
You have until Election Day to sort this out with the Clerk. Complete the form that you got from the Clerk then return it to the Clerk as soon as possible. You may also return it to an Early Voting location. If you wait and return it to your polling place on Election Day, you will have to vote a provisional ballot.
  3. I requested or received a Mail in Ballot, but changed my mind and want to vote in person instead.
If it is before Nov 2, you can go to the Clerk's Office and tell them that you want to switch. If it is after Nov 2, you need to use that mail in ballot and turn it in so that it arrives by 7pm, Nov 6. If you absolutely want to vote in person on Election Day, you will be asked to vote a provisional ballot.
  4. My mail in ballot never arrived, or I lost/damaged my mail in ballot, what do I do?
You can get a new one in person at the Clerk's office.
  5. Where do I vote on Election Day?
Look up your polling place on the Clerk's website.
  6. How can I find out about judicial candidates on the ballot?
Information is available from the Commissions on Judicial Performance.

How to Minimize Election Calls:

The best way to minimize the number of calls you'll get from candidates and political groups is to vote as early as possible. This is best done by registering with the County Clerk for a mail ballot, filling it out and returning it to the Clerk as soon as possible.  About a week after the ballot is submitted to the Clerk, you will appear on the County Clerk's list of people who have already voted. The Clerk makes this list available to campaigns and parties, who typically will not waste their time calling somebody who has already voted.  For more information on mail in ballots see above.

Another way to reduce election season phone calls is to request that the County Clerk (303-413-7740) remove your phone number from your voter registration information.  This does not prevent political groups from obtaining your phone number from other sources.  If you would like to remove your phone number from the Boulder County Dems databases please send a request here.  Please note, if you make this request, you will no longer receive reminders from your precinct leader about important voting information.

A longer term solution is to make sure you vote in every election and every primary. Your voting history is a matter of public record (but NOT for whom you voted). Parties and campaigns tend to call voters with sporadic voting habits instead of voters who vote in every election. By maintaining a spotless voting history, you may avoid some campaign calls.
