Legislative Efforts:

Creating Laws:  Boulder County Dems have had many legislative successes in 2011!  We helped get Education Proposition 103 on the ballot by turning out big numbers of Boulder County voter signatures in support Vote Yes on Prop. 103.  What's really spectacular, is that with strong BCDP efforts, we made history by being the 2nd city in the America (behind Madison, WI) to place a measure on the ballot opposing corporate personhood and against equating of money as speech.  Boulder residents will have the opportunity to speak out against big money in politics and the domination of big business in government through their vote in the November 2011 election.

Influencing the Colorado Legislature:  The BCDP receives regular Legislative Updates from our elected officials during our Executive Committee Meetings (find upcoming meeting dates here).  The public is welcome to listen, ask questions and offer suggestions about what our legislators will be doing next session.  They want our input, and they’re here to represent us.  This is our opportunity to shape Colorado legislative agendas!

Influencing our Lawmakers:  Influencing our elected officials is also accomplished by putting a solid voice behind our platform planks.  As issues arise, like labor union rights, use of open space, deciding our energy future, raising the debt ceiling, and the future of education, Medicare and social security - we can broadcast our position through Democratic Party Resolutions.  We vet the issue as a group at monthly, public Executive Committee meetings, declare our position as a Resolution and send it to our representatives.  They get to hear from us what we think and what we want.  This year, we have passed 6 important Resolutions on many of the issues listed above, and our elected officials are listening!  Join us at Executive Committee meetings, bring your ideas, and participate in the process.

Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Efforts:

Get Out The Vote means helping people get registered to vote, informed about the issues and candidates, and to the polls on election day.  This year-round effort by the Boulder County Dems makes a significant difference in the outcomes of local and statewide elections.  The GOTV Field team is composed of Precinct Leaders and their neighborhood volunteers, Area Coordinators, House District Team Leaders, Field Team Leader and support staff.  We improve the accuracy of voter lists, invite elected officials and candidates into our backyards and living rooms, distribute the BCDP Voter Guide, inform our supporters about methods of voting and election deadline details, and work to get winning votes for Democratic candidates and progressives issues.  We are always looking for new members of the Field Team.  Join Us Today!
